International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a test acknowledged by more than 6000 institutions in 120 countries. The IELTS is owned and managed by three esteemed international organizations, namely IDP: IELTS Australia, the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), and the British Council.

Structure of the Test
The test aims to assess candidates’ proficiency in English as a language in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The structure of the test attempts to encourage examinees to be well-versed in this international language in place of rote learning.
The IELTS is conducted in two different formats, out of which one is Academic, undertaken by those who want to pursue studies in English-speaking universities or institutions of higher and further education. The second format is General Training, undertaken by those who want to migrate toAustralia , New Zealand, and Canada as well as by those who want to pursue secondary education or have work interests or training programs in English-speaking countries.
The Reading and Writing modules in the two formats are different unlike the other two modules Listening and Speaking, which are common. The four modules are segregated in the form such as:
The Listening has four sections with 40 items, spanning 30 minutes and the Speaking lasts for 11 to 14 minutes. The Reading has 3 sections with 40 items, spanning 60 minutes and the Writing allots 60 minutes for 2 tasks of 100 and 150 words, respectively.
The IELTS tests are conducted in more than 500 centers and up to four times a month. There is no restriction to the number of attempts examinees can make to sit the exam.
Note: Candidates are required to confirm the test format with the concerned institution or organization and is not recommended for the candidates under sixteen years of age.
The IELTS scores are accepted in universities and organizations worldwide, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the US, and the UK.
